From failing hardware to a fresh start

Old servers and storage rarely fail at a convenient time - it's usually mid-term, mid-lesson or in the middle of exam season. For this school, we replaced failing physical servers and storage with modern, supported hardware, and used the project to rebuild the comms cabinet around it. Our server, storage and network work for schools is designed in line with the DfE digital and technology standards.

How we deliver

1. Assess the existing servers and storage, identify failing hardware and plan the replacement around the school calendar.
2. Install new enterprise-grade server and storage hardware, sized for the school today with room to grow.
3. Migrate services and data across with careful planning and testing, outside teaching hours.
4. Strip out redundant equipment and cabling, then rebuild the cabinet with new managed switching and patch panels.
5. Re-patch with short, tidy leads and label every switch, patch panel and port.
6. Add a rack-mounted console, protected power and full documentation, so the system is easy to manage and support.
